A Challenge to our Community
At the start of 2017, longtime champions of the Pomegranate Center Ron and Eva Sher pledged a $25,000 challenge grant, and friend of Pomegranate Nancy Nordhoff followed suit with a pledged $37,000 challenge grant to support us in our critical transition period. That means we need to raise money from our supporters in order to match the $62,000 in pledged funding.
Here’s what Nancy, founder of the Hedgebrook residency for women writers, said about why she’s giving: “Now more than ever it is vital for communities to have places where people can come for fun, personal reflection or community gatherings. Pomegranate Center, through its Collaborative Placemaking, can make it all possible. I am happy to be a supporter.”
Ron, the founder of Third Place Books, said of his donation, “I support Pomegranate because they are able to involve the community in the creation of its place. By doing so the participants and the neighbors take ownership of the place, they take pride in what they do; they will use it, care for it, and respect it. Pomegranate helps neighbors help themselves and help their community.”
With these gifts, they challenge the Pomegranate community to step up and match their donations. Every dollar you give today will be matched 1:1 by the Shers and Ms. Nordhoff. Please take a moment to reflect on what our legacy means to you and consider giving today.
