Pickering Farm Teaching Garden
Issaquah, WA 2005
Partners: City of Issaquah, Port Blakely Community Rotary Club
This community teaching garden demonstrates ways to minimize the effects of urban landscaping on the natural environment while also providing an inviting space for the community. It is a living classroom demonstrating techniques to save water, improve water quality, preserve natural habitat and reduce solid waste. Working with over 100 volunteers to build four kiosks, an outdoor classroom, two benches and a fence, we also installed green roofs planted with strawberries and sedum on three outdoor structures.
